Each time this website is accessed, our hosting provider collects technically necessary access data and stores it in server log files. The following data is recorded:
• IP address of the requesting device (usually shortened or anonymised promptly) • Date and time of access • URL accessed and HTTP status code • Volume of data transferred • Browser type, operating system and referrer URL
Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technical provision and security of the website). The data is not merged with other data sources or evaluated on a personal basis. Log files are deleted after a short time, unless they are needed to investigate security incidents.
3. Contact form and contact by email
If you send us a message via the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide (name, email address, content of the message) for the purpose of processing your enquiry and for any follow-up questions.
Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and – insofar as your enquiry is aimed at concluding or carrying out a (membership-related) relationship – Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. There is also a legitimate interest in the effective handling of your enquiry pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Note: The contact form on this website opens your message in your local email programme (mailto procedure). No data is transmitted to our server in the process; the actual sending takes place via your email provider.
Your data will be deleted as soon as your enquiry has been finally processed and no statutory retention obligations prevent this.
4. Hosting
This website is hosted by an external service provider. The hoster processes personal data that is generated when the website is accessed (in particular the access data referred to in section 2) on our behalf.
A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with the hoster, which ensures the confidential processing of your data. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and reliable provision of the website).
5. SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the lock icon in your browser bar and by the prefix „https://“ in the address bar. Data you transmit to this website cannot be read by third parties.
6. Web fonts (Google Fonts)
This website uses external web fonts provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland („Google Fonts“) to display fonts consistently. When a page is accessed, your browser loads the required fonts from Google's servers. In doing so, your IP address is transmitted to Google; transfers to third countries (in particular the USA) cannot be ruled out.

7. Embedded third-party content
On the press page, we embed the newsroom of the Bernhard Wicki Memorial Fund e.V. from the platform presseportal.de (news aktuell GmbH, Hamburg) via an iframe script. When the page is accessed, technical data (in particular your IP address) is transmitted to presseportal.de so that the content can be displayed.
Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in an up-to-date and complete presentation of our press releases). The privacy notices of presseportal.de also apply.
Elsewhere, we link to our profiles on Facebook (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) and Instagram (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.). Data is only transferred to the respective providers when you click on these links. Information on data processing can be found in the providers' respective privacy notices.
8. Cookies
This website does not use cookies for analysis, tracking or marketing purposes. Technically necessary cookies may be set by embedded third-party content (e.g. presseportal.de); their processing is governed by the privacy notices of the respective provider.
9. Recipients and transfers to third countries
Your personal data will only be passed on to third parties to the extent necessary for the performance of our tasks (e.g. to our hoster) or if you have given your express consent. Transfers to third countries may take place in connection with the use of Google Fonts and the embedded third-party content (sections 6 and 7). The respective providers rely on appropriate safeguards pursuant to Art. 44 et seq. GDPR (in particular Standard Contractual Clauses).
